About Us

History

A Vaulting Connection LLC was founded in 2005 in the Grand Rapids area by Karin Schmidt who had a vision of offering horseback riding to as many kids as possible--regardless of their ability. Growing up in Germany, Karin's first contact with horses (vaulting), inspired her to start something similar for her own kids and others. Her horse, Charley, gentle, easy to train and always willing to work, was the perfect partner with whom to begin this adventure. To date, Charley has safely carried many kids . . . those with SPECIAL NEEDS as well as others--even standing on his back in the canter.

Finding a permanent home at Stonehill Stable in 2007, A Vaulting Connection continues to expand. As of October 2008, Karin manages all of Stonehill Stable, and oversees four vaulting teams: one competitive and three recreational--practicing on five horses. Many special needs kids come for weekly private lessons.

A Vaulting Connection is a member of the AVA (American Vaulting Association) and has helped start several vaulting clubs in Michigan--actively promoting the sport through clinics, shows and demonstrations. A Vaulting Connection is a member of AARS (American Association of Riding Schools) and offers quality private riding lessons for kids and adults. Be one of Karin's first students at Stonehill!
