History

Karin's Horse Connection LLC was founded in 2005 in the Grand Rapids area by Karin Schmidt who had a vision of offering horseback riding to as many kids as possible--regardless of their ability. Growing up in Germany, Karin's first contact with horses (vaulting), inspired her to start something similar for her own kids and others. Her horse, Charley, gentle, easy to train and always willing to work, was the perfect partner with whom to begin this adventure. To date, Charley has safely carried many kids . . . those with SPECIAL NEEDS as well as others--even standing on his back in the canter.

Karin's Horse Connection is a member of the AVA (American Vaulting Association) and has helped start several vaulting clubs in Michigan--actively promoting the sport through clinics, shows and demonstrations.

Karin's Horse Connection is a member of AARS (American Association of Riding Schools) and offers quality private riding lessons for kids and adults.

Stonehill Stable
Stonehill Stable was founded 25 years ago and is owned by Yvonne Dodgson. Karin's Horse Connection leases the entire facility and is currently home to 22 horses of many breeds. We're a laid back community of horse enthusiasts who enjoy leisurely riding without too many ambitions to go to horse shows. Stonehill is surrounded by rolling hills, huge pastures, hay fields and woods, with beautiful trails and dirt roads for riding. We have an indoor arena (50x100) attached to the stalls, two outdoor arenas (60x120, 40x80) and a round pen. We have an office, lounge, tack room, bathroom, hot and cold water, and private lockers.
