Horses change lives. They give our young people confidence and self esteem. They provide peace and tranquility to troubled souls- they give us hope! - Toni Robinson

Junior RidersJunior riders typically enjoy one hour per week private lessons.

The rider learns to: handle the horse on the ground

  • groom
  • saddle and bridle
  • ride bareback, English and Western
  • beginning jumping
  • vaulting
  • trail riding
Riders earn six ribbons and certificates as they are exposed to the various aspects of riding and caring for horses. Riders stay in the program for as long as they are enjoying themselves. Upon completion of the junior level ribbons and certificates, riders may have the option of continuing into the Senior Program.

Senior riders typically enjoy two hour per week private lessons, although some riders opt for the one hour schedule. The senior program places a greater emphasis on mastery of the animal. The rider learns all that is included in the junior rider program, in addition to twelve specific areas of horse care skills of interest to novice riders:

  • safety
  • general and emergency horse care
  • barn care
  • show grooming
  • breeds and riding styles
  • basic physiology and psychology
  • horses in literature and art
  • researching advanced horse riding opportunities
All teaching and learning is accomplished in a relaxed, hobby atmosphere with riders discovering and defining where their interests lead them. It is our goal that senior riders become competent, independent amateur riders, and ribbons and certificates are awarded for knowledge mastered.

Runt Riders

The RuntRider young child pony program is perfect for children who are too young to appreciate the routine of lessons. This warm and fuzzy program is designed for children who are young enough to ask not to hold the reins by themselves. There is no commitment to a regular lesson schedule; parents simply call ahead to book a session. After ten rides, the RuntRider™ receives a free t-shirt.

The three-hour-long introductory A Day with Horses™ is ideal for scouts, community groups, family outings, and parties. Riders share their horse and instructor as they become comfortable handling the horse on the ground, grooming and saddling. The program includes an opportunity to ride bareback and to test eastern and/or western saddles. Activity books are provided for added learning and enjoyment.

Karin's Horse Connection also offers beginning and advanced equestrian vaulting in a team as well as therapeutic lessons for physically, mentally and emotionally challenged riders of any ability.

Whether you are looking for a truly enjoyable one-time experience, or are yearning for that ongoing horse-human bond, a telephone call will answer your questions, and a visit to the stable will help you decide whether horseback riding is the hobby for you. Call today!
